The Largest FDM Manufacturing Plant in Europe grows with 50%

Wednesday, May 16, 2012

Materialise is excited to announce the addition of nine Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) machines to our production line-up, bringing our total capacity to 31 machines. With the addition of two MC900, three MC400, and four MC250 machines, we respond on the growing demand for manufacturing components with demanding material requirements. In addition, the MC900 machines, with a build envelope of 914 x 610 x 914 mm (36 x 24 x 36 inches), are the largest FDM machines on the market, enabling the creation of high quality ABS, PC or PC/ABS parts that are bigger than ever.

For those not familiar with FDM, it is ideal for the production of larger prototypes and small series of manufacturing components; it offers both excellent repeatability and stability, (deformation of parts is virtually unknown). As well, FDM provides the possibility to produce in engineering-grade plastics, including ULTEM™ 9085 which is a standard in the aircraft industry and creates parts that, in addition to being flame and temperature resistant, have superior mechanical performance and an excellent strength to weight ratio.

We invite you to further explore the exceptional possibilities of FDM. Additional details can be found on our website, or alternately, don’t hesitate to contact us.
