Representing Innovation at Floriade 2012: 3D Printed “Planet in Perspective”

Friday, May 4, 2012

One of the most exciting art projects happening in the Dutch province of Limburg today can be found on the 16th floor of the newly completed Innovatoren in Venlo. As part of Floriade 2012: the World Horticultural Expo, Ptah art advisors, Daan de Haan Design and Akarton came together under the name of Combined Innovative Art (CIA) and their aim was to combine Sustainability, Innovation, and Alienation through the three unique works of art on display in the Innovatoren. Representing Innovation is a 3D printed sculpture by Daan de Haan called "Planet in Perspective," a work which highlights the fragility of our planet and the importance of working together. The sculpture was created in a collaboration between Canon Océ, Isaie Bloch (known for his work with Iris van Herpen), and Materialise.

The exhibition is free to visit for those using the business rooms within the Innovatoren as well as guests and other interested parties. In total, 125,000 visitors are expected to visit Floriade 2012 before it comes to an end on the 7th of October, 2012.
